“Ben - Larg - Beyond the Island” follows the 17-year-olds journey as he’s poised to grasp the professional surfing career he has always dreamt of. But just days after signing contracts with O’Neill and Red Bull, he's victim to an unprovoked assault by a local surfer, derailing everything. The Scottish big-wave surfer faces injuries, failed surgeries, and self-doubt as he navigates adulthood and battles to regain his place in one of the world’s most dangerous arenas.
More than an action sports documentary, this is a coming-of-age story exploring themes of psychological recovery, modern pressures of social media, and the determination to pursue a dream when the odds are stacked against you.
While surfing sets the scene, this isn’t a typical surf film. It’s a human story with challenges that resonate beyond surf culture, broadening reach and audience engagement.

Post lockdown and the big C word… The world has gone through an incredibly uncertain time and a year on our minds are taking their time to adjust. We follow the path of a young adult, many of whom lost connection and felt isolated through these years. The photographer heads back out to explore the city as it comes to life.
Although we long for interaction, the stimulation and the hustle can become too loud. He takes a trip into nature, to wander, explore and feel freedom again.
